About Your Cooperative
The electrical system serving your home is separated into three main parts, generation, transmission, and distribution.
Generation
is the process of "creating" electrical energy from a primary source; wind, coal, hydro, gas, solar, oil, etc.
Transmission
is the part which transmits electricity from the generation source to substations near homes and businesses. The transmission part is often recognized as "the grid" of large steel towers.
Distribution
is the final link before your meter. The distribution portion delivers electricity from substations and along the wooden poles which are commonly seen along our roads and property.
Guernsey Muskingum Electric Cooperative, Inc.
is a "distribution" cooperative.
Buckeye Power, Inc. (BPI)
is the generation and transmission (G&T) cooperative that is jointly owned by and serves the 25 electric distribution cooperatives in Ohio.
